Road closures for Coral Coast Triathlon

Published Friday June 5 2015; 4:30pm

This weekend sees the start of the Cairns Adventure Festival with the Coral Coast Triathlon kicking off on Sunday June 7.

This is the oldest triathlon in the Southern Hemisphere and the course will see competitors tackle a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run around Port Douglas Esplanade, Four Mile Beach and surrounding roads.

There are a number of road closures and traffic changes in place from 5am to 1pm on Sunday. The majority of the areas affected are in Port Douglas. The Captain Cook Highway between Port Douglas and Cairns will remain open all day.

Local police encourage all road users to remain alert, drive with caution and pay attention to what is happening on our roads.
