Children swimmers are invited to join The Meteors for a swim clinic on Tuesday in Port Douglas.
The event run by Meteors Swimming Club is offering a session with Bill Evans who runs "Will swim and try" in Cairns. Evans comes with 20 years worth of coaching experience for triathalons, is offering his knowledge and time for free.
The session will introduce children to squad swimming, stroke development and training practices. To attend, children need to be existing swimmers who want to compete or join the club for fun and fitness.
The event hopes to get more children involved in swimming in the Douglashire. Annie Reynolds, one of the local mums and organisers said "our goal is for the club to be able to compete in regional and state competions".
If there is enough interest from Tuesdays clinic, the club will develop a schedule and host club nights in the future.
Swimmers need to be aged between 7-16, but this is flexible if they can swim between 25-50 metres.
The clinic will be at the QT Resort lap pool between 4-5pm, rain or shine. Entry to the pool is a discounted $3 per child.
For further info about the club, Annie, Nathan, Eryn and Rischelle will all be free after the event for a chat.
