Mantra Group will again be raising money to help ensure kids get the best possible start at school with a charity cricket match at Reynolds Park in Port Douglas.
The cricket match, to be held on June 20, will raise funds for the Red Cross’s Good Start Breakfast Club, which aims to help provide meals to children that would otherwise go without at the start of the day.
Last year’s cricket day raised about $5,500 and Matthew Knight from Mantra Aqueous Port Douglas said that this year the funding target would be $10,000.
The day-long game will set three teams against each other, representing Mantra Aqueous Port Douglas, Mantra Cairns and Palm Cove, and Mantra Group’s local suppliers.
A variety of prizes including a trip for two around Fraser Island valued at $800, a split-system air conditioner and a signed Cowboys jersey will be given away through silent auctions and raffle on the day.
Mr Knight said the Good Start Breakfast Club was a good cause to support.
“Mantra has been aligned with Red Cross for years and the Good Start program is about helping ensure kids that wouldn’t have brekky otherwise get a meal in the mornings, which means they can focus and school and learn.
“It should be a very fun day, we urge everyone to get out and get involved for a great day of cricket and raising funds for a good cause.”
