Clink Theatre door locks glued in vandal attack

The Clink Theatre in Port Douglas has been vandalised by someone injecting glue into the building's door locks before a public forum on Thursday.
Douglas Theatre Arts Group (DTAG) president Michael Kerr checked the building shortly before midday on Thursday and found the industrial-strength glue leaking from all the building's door locks.

Because the glue had not yet set, Mr Kerr estimated that have must have been placed there only minutes earlier, and may have occurred while he was actually inside the theatre setting up ahead of the night's event.
He quickly called All Lock and Key Cutting Service, who were able to remove the glue and save DTAG a $1000 bill to replace all the theatre's locks.
Mr Kerr says that it was lucky he decided to check the theatre when he did.
"If I'd been around an hour later, the glue would have been completely set and we'd have been sunk," he said.
"We wouldn't have been able to have the forum on Crown of Thorns and we would have had to bust out and replace all the locks, which probably would have cost us over $1000.
"I would really like to say a big thank you to All Lock and Key Cutting Service, they sorted out the problem straight away with a spray to dissolve the glue.
"It makes me very sad that there is someone out there that is willing to do this to the theatre - we are a non-profit community organisation, and the intent of this action was very obviously to make the theatre inaccessible for the night's forum."
Mr Kerr says he has a strong suspicion of who may be responsible, with witnesses seeing someone walking away from the theatre along Mowbray Street around the time the incident was believed to have occurred.
These details have been passed on to Port Douglas Police.
