Since 27th June, Port Douglas has hosted the world’s largest inflatable water slide at three stories high, 54 metres long with three slide chute options in Reynolds Park, and it certainly is hard to miss.
Trippo closed Sunday 19th July and the future of its return to Port Douglas is yet to be determined.
Trippo’s first appearance was on 21st December 2014 in Busselton Perth and was in operation for 50 days over the summer but due to foreshore development was unable to return. It then toured to Mandurah Perth for the Easter school holidays and then to Port Douglas for its third operation.
Owner Neil Fox is hoping Trippo will return to Port Douglas for the upcoming September school holiday period. “The accommodation providers opposite the current location were initially concerned, however so far we have received good feedback from the accommodation providers both here and in Cairns” said owner Neil Fox.
Whether we see its return will depend on a number of factors. “Douglas Shire Council has been very supportive and we will be discussing with them any negative feedback after Council prepare its review. There has been a lot of positive feedback especially from families with young ones aged from 4-14 years old” says Neil.
There are also discussions regarding a survey being developed which will help give feedback from the local businesses. Phoebe Kitto from Port Douglas Chamber of Commerce will provide more information on the status of the survey next week.
At this stage Neil is hoping for a positive outcome. “This is all part of due process and I support that and we have thorough accreditations in place.”
