Division 5 juniors started the competition last Tuesday at Port Courts Blue Lightning played Port Coconuts, Lightning started srongly shooting well in the first quarter but the Coconuts played consistently and won their first game for the season.
Final score 4-3 with best players Hannah Schumacher, Kristen Fasano, Alyssa Jones and Lyra Fudela. The Young Stars played the Young Comets the first quarter was relatively even but the Stars shot ahead to win 8-1 with best players Caitlyn ONeil, Grace Cullen, Addison Ramsey & Maia Jaffar.
Division 4 played the Young Diamonds against the Young Gems in a tight contest the Diamonds down by 3 at half time but despite a great effort by the Gems the Diamonds with the win 7-6 with best players Sophie Watson, Cassia James, Abbie White & Ebony Schonenberger. The Young Sapphires played the Pythons both teams enjoy a great rivalry and the gsme did not dissappoint with the Pythons up ny 3 at half time the Sapphires steadied to take the win 18-14 with best players Kate Padovan, Jordan Scott, Jorja Connor & Taleisha Carswell.
Division 2 played Aftershock against Rattle 2 the game was well contested with the Young Aftershock team mproving by the week, Rattle too good 52-7 with best & fairest Jessie Goetze. The Strikers played Young Guns 3, the Strikers scored consistently against the in form Guns 3 team, Guns with the win 38-10 with best & fairest Taylor Jeffs. Young Guns 2 played Tiddas the first quarter with just a goal the difference the Guns steadied to take the win 31-10 with best & fairest Kyah Francis. The Stingers played the Gunnars in a great contest the game very even but the Gunnars shot a 11-3 third quarter and continued on to win 36-28 with best & fairest Renna Sayed. Crocs 2 played Spot On, the Crocs started strongly and scored consistently for the 4 quarters taking the game 41-25 with best & fairest Kate Ramsay..
Division 1 played Dynamite against Twenty 20, Twenty 20 up by a goal in the first quarter both teams then alternated wins over the next 2 quarters with Dynamite victors by 2 goals 28-26 with best & fairest Bronte Lowenstein-Jones. Cougars played Crocs 1, Cougars set up the night with a 20-7 first quarter the Crocs matched the Cougars over the next 3 quarters but couldnt make up tbe 13 goal first quarter deficit, the Cougars 48-35 with best & fairest Michelle Teasdale.
Douglas netball is travellimg to Innisfail this weekend to compete in the Marln Coast regional club carnival with 7 teams playing in the Junior and Senior draws good luck teams!
