While former Miss Universe Olivia Wells has returned to the southern winter in Melbourne, she says Port Douglas holds a very special place in her heart.

In between her medical studies back in Melbourne, Olivia was happy to talk about her recent visit to Port Douglas.

“It’s is very special to me and I have been coming here every year since I was a little girl.  We would come and visit our grandparents when they holidayed here at 4 Mile Beach Caravan Park and it was one of my favorite things as a kid.  Our family keeps coming back for 4-5 days to escape the winter,” Olivia says.

Staying at the Sheraton Mirage during her latest visit, Olivia commented that she held her 21st in April there as well “the pool is spectacular, we stay here every year,” she says.

“I completed my Open Water Dive Certificate with Scuba Dave and highly recommend it.  The Calypso group were fantastic.  I go to the reef each visit, it’s right at our back door we are very spoilt and I recommend going to the reef,” she said.

Olivia took out the Miss Universe Australia 2013 title and went on to represent the country at the Moscow competition, reaching the semi-finals.

The former Miss Universe is still involved with the competing girls and was there to see the handing over of the crown  from Miss Universe Australia 2014 Tegan Martin to the crowning of Miss Universe Australia 2015, Monika Radulovic, in June.

Olivia’s focus is on her university studies as she is in her 2nd year as a student at Monash University studying medicine and surgery.

We look forward to welcoming her back next year, “if not before, I might be back in September, well see,” she said excitedly.
