Douglas Netball attended the Fowler’s Group Regional Club Carnival last weekend. The event was firstly to be held in Innisfail, but a late move to Cairns did not deter 8 teams from Douglas playing in the event.

Two Senior teams and 6 Junior teams travelled to Cairns and played in the round robin event over 2 days, competing against Cairns, Tablelands and Mareeba clubs over 7 divisions.

Douglas came away with a win to the Young Diamonds in 11/Under, runner up to the Young Sapphires in 13/Under and runner up to Dynamite in the Ladies division 3.

Thanks to all the teams, parents, coaches, umpires and managers for making the event a great success and congratulations to the teams who brought home the trophies.

The Douglas Netball event calendar is very busy over the next few weeks, the Marlin Coast Representative carnival will be held at Port Douglas courts on Sunday the 9th August, Evelyn, Mareeba, Tablelands, Innisfail, Tully, Douglas and Cairns will play their best teams in 4 age groups from the 12 – 16/Under.  Two weeks later Douglas will hold its Club Carnival again at Port Courts hosting the wider region in what has proved to be a very popular event with our fellow associations.  Douglas Netball would appreciate any donations of supplies for our canteen or prizes for our rattle to sell over the day with all sponsors named and thanked publicly.

We are also seeking a major sponsor for trophies if there are any businesses in townwilling to support Douglas Netball, they will have full naming rights.
