Crash victim in critical condition

A man in his 40s is in a critical condition after his car left the road and hit a tree on Mowbray River Road, Mowbray.

The Forensic Crash Unit continues their investigations of a serious traffic crash that occurred on Mowbray River Road, Mowbray on Sunday 5 July.

The male driver 43 and sole occupant of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Cairns Base hospital in a critical condition.

Initial investigations suggest that just after 10pm on Sunday evening a vehicle left the road and collided with a tree.

Port Douglas Police Acting Sargent Damien Meadows confirmed yesterday the driver was in a serious and unstable condition.

Cairns Base Hospital condition report confirmed today the driver was in a serious condition.
