Voting closes soon for November Best Photo Competition
Tuesday January 13 2015, 10:40am
Voting will close soon for the Newsport's prestigious Best Photo Competition for November 2014.
Photography fans have until Wednesday to visit the Newsport Facebook page and 'like' a photo in the Open and Themed categories to vote for them.
Submissions are currently being taken for the combined December-January round, which as usual has an Open category and a Themed category.
The theme for December-January is 'Festive Season' - send in your pics that capture the spirit of Christmas and New Year's Eve around Far North Queensland.
Perhaps you had your entire family in one place for Christmas lunch, or you might have been particularly proud of your Christmas lights display this year, or maybe your New Year's Eve party had some crazy costumes.
If you think it's a good photo that captures the idea of 'Festive Season', please email it to competitions@thenewsport.com.au.
Be sure to include your name and a title for the photo, and also feel free to add extra information about when and where it was taken.
If there is a story behind the shot, that's even better.
There are four winners for each round of the Best Photo Competition.
Up to four photos can be submitted per entrant per round.
Newsport will select a shortlist of finalists.
From these finalists a panel of judges from our sponsors will select the Panel Winner (with a prize of a Sailaway Sunset Sail for two people, valued at $100) and a Panel Runner-Up (with the prize of $25 worth of personalised photo producst from Mossman Computing and Print.)
The finalists will also be displayed on the Newsport Facebook Page.
Whichever photo from the 'Themed' finalists accumulates the most 'likes' will be titled Most Popular Themed and will win $25 worth of personalised photo products from Mossman Computing and Print, a $20 iTunes gift card from Coles Supermarkets and an official framed Best Photo certificate.
The photo voted Most Popular in the Open category will will a family pass (two adults and two children) to the Herberton Spy and Camera Museum, valued at $40.
The Newsport Editor will also select an 'Editor's Mention', a photo that had good qualities but didn't quite make it into the other categories.
Happy snapping!
