Pink Flamingo Resort in Mossman was a standout, featuring at 15th on the Most Romantic list, 22nd on the Bargain Hotels list and 23rd on the Small Hotels list. 

The Douglas Shire region is obviously a favourite for love-struck travellers, with Mai Tai Executive Villas ranking 17th, Peninsula Hotel ranking 23rd and Best Western Lazy Lizard Motor Inn ranking 24th. 

Families also valued the region with Paradise Links being placed at 16th and Mandalay Accommodation coming in at 18th in the Best Family Hotels region. 

The only category in which the region didn’t score a Top 25 placing was in the ‘Service’ category. 

TripAdvisor is the world’s largest travel website and its annual Travellers’ Choice Awards, now in their thirteenth year, are highly valued because the honours are decided by travellers themselves.

Jason and Anne Moore have operated Freestyle Port Douglas for more than a decade and were particularly gratified by the third honour to complement their previous 2013 Top 25 Hotels for Service in Australia award. 

TripAdvisor’s site shows more than 96 per cent of all traveller feedback ranked Freestyle Resort Port Douglas as either ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’.
