The co-founder of environmental organisation Tangaroa Blue has been nominated for a Heritage Bank Volunteer of the Year Award.

Heidi Taylor has dedicated her life to protecting the Australian coast from the millions of tonnes of marine rubbish floating the in the ocean.

She has organised and conducted countless beach clean-ups, often in remote beaches far from a congratulating audience.

Tangaroa Blue not only cleans up beaches but also provides invaluable scientific data to the Australian Marine Debris Database by cataloging every single piece of recovered rubbish.

The prize for being awarded Heritage Bank’s Volunteer of the Year Award is a $10,000 donation to the winning volunteer’s organisation.

Anyone can vote for Ms Taylor and Tangaroa Blue here.
