Need for Speed: Ramada Port Douglas appoints new manager

Wyndham Hotel Group has recruited Bob Speed as Resort Manager of Ramada Resort Port Douglas in Far North Queensland, Australia. 

Mr Speed has held a number of positions in the hospitality industry over the past 25 years and has worked extensively throughout Australia, the South Pacific and New Zealand.  

Mr Speed’s previous roles have focused strongly on managing Resorts and Corporate Hotels.  His previous employers include Millennium and Copthorne Hotels, Heritage Hotels and the Tanoa Group.

Prior to his appointment at Ramada Resort Port Douglas, Mr Speed was General Manager at Wyndham Resort Denarau Island in Fiji for four and a half years.

Ramada Resort Port Douglas operates as a mixed-use property as a partnership between Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific, Australia’s largest vacation ownership (timeshare) company, and Wyndham Hotel Group, the world’s largest hotel company with approximately 7,590 hotels.

Mr Speed will be responsible for the day to day operations of the resort, which features: 120 stylish self-contained apartments and hotel rooms; a tropical lagoon-style pool with waterfall and swim-up bar; Tree Bar and Grill restaurant; a tour desk; plus conference, meeting and wedding facilities catering for up to 80 guests.
