PORT DOUGLAS Magazine Edition 18 was launched exclusively at the Douglas Business & Tourism Awards Gala Evening at the Sheraton Mirage Resort Port Douglas, last Friday 27th November 2015.

A sell out audience of over 250 local business owners and operators witnessed the unveiling of the latest beauty to don the cover, Mr Stephen Curry.

Australian actor Stephen Curry joins a list of male celebrities like Manu Fieldel from My Kitchen Rules, Tennis legend Pat Rafter and Channel Nine’s Karl Stefanovic who have graced the cover in the past.  And, through a community collaboration, PORT DOUGLAS Magazine was honoured to have Mr Curry on its front cover for this edition, explained Editor in Chief Sarah Cullen.

“Working with our good friends from the Port Shorts Film Festival, The PORT DOUGAS Magazine was granted the privilege to host Stephen Curry and Matt Hearn, with their families, to a wonderful afternoon aboard the luxury charter boat Enterprise.

“Whilst showcasing some of the finer men’s fashions available here in Port Douglas, it also provided the opportunity to highlight our world class destination,  Port Douglas, simply second to none with world heritage scenery.  Add a host of talented local professionals and bring your family to enjoy an ideal holiday destination, pre/post production, Port Douglas really is a wonderful destination that both Australian and Overseas filmmakers should consider,” said Ms Cullen.

Some of the surprises install for readers this edition, advised Cullen, besides the fact that there is a “gentleman” on the cover, and a “talented and funny one at that”, the features include why Crocodile is the new green and some beautiful photography courtesy of Perrin Clarke and Ben Keating.

“We're super excited about the investment future and get a sneak peak of the plans of some of our innovative leaders, fabulous food, things to do, real life weddings and tropical living and fashion. I would go on but really all you need to do is pick up a copy and see for yourself,” she said.

The success of the 100 page publication, said Cullen, can be attributed to “our beautiful destination, our customers, hard work and a team of wonderful contributors providing high quality content and photography.”

Whilst the publication of the PORT DOUGLAS Magazine, in its 18th edition, is becoming more streamlined which is attributed to the above factors, Cullen reports they have no intention of resting on their laurels.

“We will always look to raise the bar and continue to deliver a product our readers enjoy and our team and customers can be proud of,” she said.

When asked if she could share any teasers for the next edition, number 19, Cullen remained tight lipped.

“No, but ’tis the season to celebrate with some great events including Port Douglas Carnivale, TASTE Port Douglas and the Beach Races.

“Feel free to let us know what you think should be in edition 19,” she said.

Copies of the magazine can be obtained in Port Douglas from accommodation houses, restaurants, retailers and magazine dispensers throughout Port Douglas placed outside Betty’s Bohemian Cafe, Coles at the Port Village, The Reef Marina and the offices of TourismPORTDOUGLAS.com.au and Newsport on the corner of Inlet and Wharf Streets.
