Having United 1/11 heading into day two the Astute Financial Mud Crabs were searching for quick wickets.
Adam “bobby” Lucas and Kaiden Sorenson opened the bowling for the day and it didn’t take captain bobby long to produce the goods taking out the stumps with an absolute peach of a delivery, a small partnership formed for united until ever reliable Kaiden bowled an absolute pearler taking out middle and claiming his first for the day.
King replaced Captain Bobby at the pavilion end and claimed his first wicket in his 5th over. Captain Bobby decided that Kaiden had had enough and replaced him with the good bloke Dan “Griffo” Redfern.
On a turning deck Redfern produced the goods for the team and along with Benny V tied down the United batsman to 9/95 before United decided it would be a good idea to declare 56 runs behind the crabs, with a few stunned mud crabs walking around wondering why they would just hand them the win and not at least fight it out to the end.
Bowling figures were Adam Lucas 10 overs 2/24, K Sorenson 12 overs 1/18, N King 8 overs 1/16, B Vikionkorpi 5 overs 1/10, Shervo 1/1 of 4 and the pick of the bowlers was D Redfern 12 overs 3/13.
With a few overs left in the day the Muddies went in for some batting practice. Young Ben and Mature aged Randel opened the batting and were looking good until Ben fell to what most thought was a bump ball.
Randel found some form making 25 before he fell followed by buckets, Wally and debutant Willow for not many leaving Benny V 44 not out after a captained agreement to call the game early.
This week the B team head down to Fuller Reserve to take on the arch rival The Mulgrave Punjab’s. This game is going to be an absolute belter and the Astute Muddies will be pushing hard for the win.
Heads down and nippers out lads.
