Douglas Netball Association carnivals galore

The Marlin Coast Netball Representative Carnival will be held this Sunday at Port Courts from 9am-2pm with 21 teams.

Also the Douglas Netball Regional Club Carnival will be held on 23rd August with approximately 55 teams.

Last weekend,  the Junior Division 5 Young Stars played the Young Comets in a thriller, 2 goals each at quarter time, the Stars just a goal down at 3 quarter time put on a 2 goal last term to steal the win 6-5.  

Best players Addison Ramsey, Claire Deuble , Mercedes Ramsey and Bayahn Aston-Dilon.  The Port Coconuts played Blue Lightning the little Coconuts shot a great goal in the first quarter but Lightning were too strong winning 8-1 with best players Lyra Fudela, Saskia Booth, Emily Donohue and Jade Shearer. 

Division 4 played the Young Diamonds against the Young Gems, the Diamonds in great form and despite a slow start  won the game 7-4.  Best players Courtney Geddes, Amber Hawkins, Octavia Cobb and  Lani Dickson. The Young Sapphires played the Pythons both teams evenly matched, the Pythons showing good discipline were able to hold off the Sapphires by a goal 15-14.  Best players Georgia McCarthy, Logan Buzza, Jordan Scott and Jay Heidke.

The Senior Division 2 round played Young Guns 3 against Rattle 2,  in a high scoring contest, Rattle out-scored the Guns for the first 3 quarters despite a 12 -9 last quarter to the Guns not enough to take the win Rattle by 7, 37-30 with best & fairest Jessie Goetze.  The Tiddas with just 5 players played Aftershock, the Tiddas still strong competitors and short on players out-scored the young Aftershock team, the game was well contested with Tiddas experience showing through 27-14 with best & fairest Jasmine Kirk.  Young Guns 2 played Gunnars, the Gunnars with just 6 players could not catch the Guns final score 57-18 with best & fairest Suzie Bestwick.  The Stingers played Spot On in a great contest, plenty of shots at goal by both teams but Spot On with the win 31-16 with best & fairest Rachael Goodwin. The Strikers played Crocs 2,  the Strikers put in some great passages of play the girls played well as a team, the Crocs experience took the game with best & fairest Jane Gwilliams.  

Division 1 played Young Guns 1 against Crocs1, the Guns started strongly shooting 7-4 in the first quarter, tbe Crocs snapped into action steadied to finish in a 27 all draw with best & fairest Tamika Mackrell. Twenty 20 played the Cougars, tbe Cougars strong from the start taking the game 56-27 with best & fairest Anna Harriss.  Rattle 1 played Dynamite, Rattle in front from the first siren did not falter to win 48-25 with best & fairest Jess Eagle-Rowe.

Douglas Netball will host the Marlin Ciast Representative Carnival this Sunday at Port Courts 24 teams ftom Cairns, Innisfail, Mareeba, Tablelands, Tully and Douglas will play off in 4 divisions for the best teams in our area, Good Luck Douglas!!

The 23rd August Douglas Netball will hold its annual Club Carnival raffle prizes and donations of food stuffs from our local businesses will be very welcome to support our Junior Netballers.
