Port Douglas may be chosen as one of 10 Queensland destinations to be showcased in a series of TV shows about the region and tourism.

Producers from Visage Productions are looking for funding from the region to put together a half an hour program entirely about Port Douglas.

The program will look at regional economic development and tourism with a local community focus.

Lee Loraine, Visage Productions company director has approached a number of other regional towns to be included in the 10 separate shows.

With more than 10 towns in the running Lee said, “I’ve got 14 or 15 towns interested and I need to decide in the next week which to choose”.

TPDD have said they recognise the regional episodes provide wonderful content and general interest messaging, but their annual budget has already been allocated.

The TPDD traditionally assists with logistics and itinerary support for users pay programs. The TPDD think the program content proposed has a great regional feel and they will help as much as possible to make this happen.

Council has said they are ‘supportive of any production promoting the Douglas Shire and has had discussions with Lee regarding his proposal’.

Lee from Visage Productions has had some positive interest, but will need more operators on board with funding if Port Douglas is to be selected and showcased along with 9 other regional Queensland towns.

Filming starts in September.
