The Douglas Netball Association held its’ annual Carnival last Sunday at the Port Douglas NetballCourts.  

50 Teams competed from all over Cairns and the wider far north region over 6 divisionsfor Winners and Runners up honours over the day. 

Divisions 4, 5 and 6 competed on grass courts set up for the day on the Reef Raiders Rugby Oval, with our very own Young Diamonds winning Division 3 on the highest goal averageafter a tie on points at the end of the day.  

Well Done Diamonds!! 

On the Flexipave courts Divisions 1,2 and 3 played finishing with a runners up crown for the YoungSapphires finishing with 15 points over the day.

Division 1 – Winners NQ Radars 2 (21), Runners Up Mareeba Lightning (17)
Division 2 – Leprechauns 11 (19) highest goal average, Runners Up Tableland Dragons 14 (19)
Division 3 – Winners Mareeba Lightning 2 (18), Runners Up Young Sapphires (15)
Division 4 – Winners Leprechauns 16 (15), Runners Up Leps 15 (13)
Division 5 – Winners Young Diamonds (29) highest goal average, Runners Up Leps 18
Division 6 – Winners Mareeba Lightning (22), Runners Up Cyclones Chickadees (21) 

The Carnival was well competed and a great success for all who attended, thanks to all whohelped to set up, canteen, sponsors – your efforts are greatly appreciated.
