Annual Brian Sorensen Cup big success

Published Friday 28 August 2015

On Sunday 16th August, 96 players tee off for a good cause and a whole lot of fun while exceeding fund raising expectations at Palmer Sea Reef Golf Club.

This years major fundraiser, Salsa Sorensen Golf Day, was aiming to raise over $15,000 and together with some amazing sponsors, players and donations they managed to raise a whopping $19,548 to help local groups.

The Annual Brian Sorensen Cup is played in the late Brian Sorensen's honour with the aim to raise much needed funds for the Salsa Sorensen Association Inc - a registered charity who will distribute funds to community clubs/groups in the Douglas Shire. Charities, groups and clubs are encouraged to apply for funding for a specific item to the value of $4,000 or less that can be paid in full by Salsa Sorensen. Groups can submit their application for part of the funds raised and all submissions must outline the exact uses of the funding applied for.

If you are a charity group or club in the region in need of something new or financial support submissions to apply for funding close on September 30th, 2015.  The board will review all submissions and will advise via email correspondence the outcome of each application.
