This past weekend saw hundreds of Port Douglas locals, new and old staff and long time ‘lovers of Salsa’ celebrate the iconic restaurants 20th birthday.

People flew in from all across the country as well as New Zealand to celebrate what has been a sensational 20 years, something of which is a rarity in the restaurant trade and is simply a tribute to the management and staff of Salsa Bar & Grill.

The celebrations commenced on Thursday 16th with Salsa’s “Best of 20” Dinner of which the favourite dishes over the past twenty years were served banquette style.

Bringing back the former butchers paper as table runners as well as some seriously good classics, the night was filled with excitement and pride for what was set to be a fantastic weekend.

Old friends reunited and new ones made, it was a night to remember.

The following evening was Salsa’s actual birthday, turning 20 on April 17 – over 450 guests were shuffled on to buses before heading out to the mystery location … a location of which has been the talk of the town for the past month!

Daintree Station was to be the party venue for the evening and with catering by the team at Ochre, we were in for another great night.

ith some fabulous speeches made by Bill & Rhys and a slide show to bring back a thousand memories, guests danced the night away in the lush valley of Miallo.

The third and final celebration was held at Salsa with a traditional “Sunday Sesh” old school style. DJ Bart kept the party alive with some great tunes and Head Chef Goran Zonai tantilised taste buds with delicious canapés.

A final round of speeches and a heart felt poem by Jullie Bawden saw the night finish and a final “Thank You” from Bill and Rhys to everyone for their support over the past years.

It was a weekend of fun, a gift from Salsa Bar & Grill back to the people who have kept the Salsa dream alive all these years.

The biggest thank you goes out to the loyal staff that work tirelessly to create Salsa Magic day in and day out, and for the local community for continuing to support us through the years.

Here’s cheers to the next 20!
