"Photograph explicit Wicked vans": Mayor

Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu has called on the community to photograph any offensive slogans that they see on vehicles such as Wicked Vans in Douglas Shire.

The Mayor’s advice comes after a Newsport reader sent in photos of one of the vans parked in Macrossan Street, emblazoned with profanity.

Cr Leu said she thought Douglas Shire residents were fed up with seeing the often profane and sexually explicit advertising used to decorate the vans, but nothing could be done about them except complaining to the Wicked Campers company.

“I think the community in general are sick and tired of these profane and downright stupid slogans from Wicked Campers,” Cr Leu said.

“Unfortunately they do not breach any Local Laws but if anyone is offended I urge them to take a photograph and complain to the company, as it is only pressure from the general public the company seems to react to.”

Newsport has contacted Wicked Campers for comment.

What do you think?

Do the explicit messages often found decorating Wicked Campers vans violate common public decency, or are they just a bit of fun?
