Situated just outside the Tropical North Queensland village of Port Douglas, Palmer Sea Reef has once again been voted into Golf Australia’s Top 100 Public Access Courses in Australia. And it’s not hard to see why.
Designed by Thomson, Wolveridge and Perrett, the 18-hole Par 71 course opened in May 2000, offering three teeing grounds to accommodate all skill levels.
Popular with locals and visitors alike, Palmer Sea Reef boasts world-class facilities including a well-appointed pro shop and driving range with putting and chipping greens, as well as offering golf club and shoe hire and electric golf carts.
From the social novice to seasoned professionals, everyone can enjoy a round here. Measuring 6135 metres, the course features wide, undulating fairways, 89 bunkers and large greens with strategically placed swales and mounds to test the putting skills, and patience, of every player.
Open all year round, Palmer Sea Reef hosts regular competitions including Holden Scramble Pro-Am events. It will partner with Mossman Golf Club to deliver a two day tournament during the Port Douglas Carnivale in May, followed by a business networking golf day in June.
Even if golfing isn’t your thing, a $10 clubhouse membership will give you 12-months access to the luxury clubhouse with sweeping views of the picturesque course and mountain ranges, along with invitations to special events and discounts on meals and beverages at the onsite restaurant.
The venue is also available for functions, from business meetings and Christmas parties through to weddings, offering an unforgettable backdrop for photos of those precious moments.
It might have placed number 39 in Golfing Australia’s round-up, but we’re pretty sure this is Australia’s most magical golf course. Club manager Ben Wood agrees.
