Ellis Beach truck crash closes Captain Cook Highway

UPDATED 2:50pm - The Captain Cook Highway has re-opened after being closed for several hours after a two-vehicle crash caused a truck to roll over north of Ellis Beach.

The Captain Cook Highway is Closed to both lanes of traffic at Ellis Beach approximately 3km north of the Ellis Beach Bar after a two-vehicle crash at midday.
The crash has left a truck overturned on is on its side, with police and emergency services are on scene.
There are no reports of life threatening injuries and all occupants have been extricated from the vehicles.
Police are expecting lengthy delays with plans underway to right the truck and have it removed from the crash site.
Motorists are urged to avoid travel in this area if possible or make alternative arrangements to travel around the crash site via the Tablelands and the Julatten Range.
Further advice will be forthcoming as updates come to hand.
It is expected that the road closure will remain in place till at least 2pm, or until the vehicles have been removed from the site.
