Douglas Netball Association results

Douglas Netball played Round 2 in the Junior competition on Tuesday at Port Courts.  

The Port Coconuts played Young Comets, the Coconuts put up a fantastic defence against the in form Comets with the Comets taking the win 18-3 best players Emma Pollock, Bella Musset and Mercedes Ramsey.  

Game 2 for division 5 played Blue Lightning against the Young Stars, the Lightning team were relentless in all areas of the court taking the win 2 nil.  

Best players  Claire, Saskia Booth and Ainsley.  In division 4 the Young Gems took on the Sapphires, the Sapphires played fantastic netball to win  18-1 with best players Georgia McCarthy, Kerrin Brennan and Jorja Harvey.

Court 2 saw the Pythons play Young Diamonds, the Pythons team excelled over the 4 quarters taking the game 15-1 with best players Kacy Baxter, Sophie Kirk and Ebony Shonenberger.

The Senior division 1 started with Rattle 1 against Dynamite after an even first quarter Rattle edged ahead taking the game 49-34 with best & fairest Bronwyn Hatfield.  

Young Guns 1 played Crocs 1 in a tight contest, 10-8 in the first quarter to the Guns and a great scoring 3rd quarter to Rattle the win came down to the wire the Guns by a goal 25-24 with best & fairest Natalie  Littler.  The Cougars played Twenty 20,  Twenty 20s circle defence was excellent placing plenty of pressure on the Cougar shooters.  

Final score 38-21 Cougars with best & fairest Dale Prince.  

Division 2 played the Tiddas against the Strikers, the Tiddas  experience shone over the 4 quarters winning 44-8 with best & fairest Zara Ryan.  

Young Guns 2 played Stingers, the Stingers a new team this year put in a great effort against the Guns the Guns took the game 34-20 with best & fairest Tiah McLean.  

Young Guns 3 played Crocs 2, the Crocs despite an even first quarter played great attack in the 2nd half to take the game 27-18 with best & fairest Mel Ryan.  The Gunnars played Rattle 2, Rattle scored strongly from the start despite the Gunnars out shooting Rattle in the 3rd quarter Rattle with the win 24-18, best & fairest Renae Meaning.  

Aftershock played Spot On, the young Aftershock team scored well in the first quarter  but Spot On lifted to take the game 34-8 with best & fairest Molly Bendle.  Thanks to the umpires who stood in at short notice and to Strikers for doing control.  

Teams please note the first senior time slot is arrive at 6pm for a 6.15 start second time slot arrive 7.15 for a 7.30 start. Teams please ensure you read the draw for your umpire, canteen and control duties any changes will be emailed and posted on Facebook.

All nominated umpires are required to attend the next umpire rules discussion Tonight at 6.30pm with Liz at the Mossman Indoor Centre.

This Sunday at the Mossman Indoor Centre ex Australian Diamonds player and current assistant coach of the Silver ferns, Vicki Wilson will be running a coach and umpires Sports Forum  from 9am to 1pm.  

The clinic is free to Douglas Netball members the Forum represents an invaluable opportunity to learn from such an experienced  presenter.
