Along with the rest of Australia, Douglas Shire will pause to remember the fallen and acknowledge the service of its military personnel on ANZAC Day, which this year will be held on a Saturday.

Dawn services will be held in Mossman at the Council Administration Building on Front Street starting at 5:30am and in Cow Bay starting with a march to assemble at the Cow Bay Hotel carpark at 4:45am and a 5am march to the Cow Bay cenotaph.

Both dawn services will be followed by free ANZAC Day community breakfasts at the Mossman Indoor Sports Centre and Cow Bay Hotel, respectively.

The Mossman Markets will not be held this Saturday due to ANZAC services.

Port Douglas will hold a Community Memorial Service starting at 10:15am with a parade assembly on Macrossan Street and a march to the ANZAC Memorial on Wharf Street at 10:30am.

In Cooktown, a dawn service will be held at the top of Grassy Hill at 6am.

The Grassy Hill Access road will be closed with a shuttle bus available from the RSL Memorial Club on Charlotte Street from 5am.

The time capsule installed on Grassy Hill in 1976 will be opened after the service.

The Cooktown morning service will begin with a march up Charlotte Street, from the RSL Memorial Club starting at 10:30am.

The service will start at 11am and will include the opening of the new ANZAC arch.

There will be no public holiday for ANZAC Day this year due to it falling on a Saturday.
