BE AFRAID - BE VERY AFRAID

Have you noticed that the season has changed?

Are you hearing things go bump in the night?

Of course you have.

It's that time of year when the creatures of the night are preparing for All Hallows Eve or, as it's more commonly known, Halloween.

The good goblins and ghouls of Oak Beach have been preparing for this year's Haunt since April.

The Demonised Ghoul of the Haunting of Oak Beach - also known as American expat Richard Lavender - said this year's Haunt 'is going to be a sexy one and we've been working hard to make this one very special.'

Richard - sorry, the Demonised Ghoul - have made many changes to the Hauntin this year and the need for willing human sacrifices - sorry, "volunteers" - is high, particularly to assist in the monitoring of displays and people flow.

The Ghoul said 'As usual, each year it is a challenge to get volunteers to assist with the "people maintenance" - everyone loves the Haunt and very few want to assist during the night, they’d rather partake, explore and experience.

Surely, however,  there are some good folks out there willing to give of their time for 3.5 hours one night to give the kids of the shire a cool Halloween experience.

"This year we're doing something completely different.  The Haunt will be a walk through on 1.5 acres and each turn and twist is filled with creepy, scary, and visually terrifying displays."

The Demonised Ghoul was quick to point out that the Haunt has a disclaimer that everyone should take heed.

"The Haunting of Oak Beach is NOT an Entertainment Venue or an Event.

The Haunt is a Haunt. Anyone entering with the intention of being entertained, having fun, laughing or being playful will be asked to leave."

"The Haunt will be seeking national attention.

"Plus, I'm a ‘Bloody Yank’ and I’m keen to gain recognition as being the ‘Father of Halloween’ in Australia - I also think it’s possible to gain recognition for Far North Queensland to be the Halloween Capital of Australia.

"This would really ‘pull the chain’ of some around here who think Halloween is an American holiday, when it’s not - 32 countries celebrate Halloween in one way or another."
