The Port Douglas & Combined Club (The Tin Shed) held its annual general meeting (AGM) on Sunday September 14, which was attended by 51 members.

Voting for the committee was not necessary as no new members were nominated and all previous appointees re-stood unopposed for their former positions.

President Tony Dickinson referred to the EGM wherein members voted to seek a loan for extension so as to improve amenities for the benefit of all members and guests.

The loan was obtained and after many meetings with stakeholders throughout the year work is expected to start within weeks.

Secretary John Clifford represented the treasurer Mal Phillips, who is interstate on urgent family business.

John reported that the club is financially sound, doing well and the future looks good.

In his report manager Kym Rowley stated that he felt privileged to manage such a great club and thanked the committee and staff for their hard work and support throughout the year.

Kym pointed out that membership numbers are rising.

In answer to questions from members he further described the pending renovations and reminded members that the plans are available to view.

Following the meeting, many members stayed on to enjoy the facilities and each other’s company.
