Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsh made an appearance at Mossman State High School on September 17 to address a group of Year 12 sociology students.

He wanted convey his message of erudition and answer any political questions that the students had that could help them with their task of exploring active citizenship.

Mr. Entsh is a revered political entity that has forged history in Australian government. He was the first Liberal member in Leichardt.

On top of this, he was the first opposition member to hold a seat in Leichardt.

Also he was the first Member of Parliament to, retire and then return to office.

Mr. Entsh had one simple message to impart onto the willing senior students of Mossman State High School.

“If you are prepared to do the best you can and you do it well then you can achieve your goals,” he said.

This attitude, he explained, is the key to his success, relating how he

talked about his way into parliament to effect change on the issues he beleived in, explaining 'if you want a change of attitude then you have to change the government!'.

Mr. Entsh also discussed his prospects. His overall goal appeared to be getting the most out of what we have and bringing everyone together to change society and make it better.

“We will die and wither unless we move with change," he said.

The idea that that Australian society can be trampled by parochialism was quite prevalent in his talk with the students.

He talked about how everyone’s voice has the right to be heard, no matter how ‘out there’ their cause may be.

He also made it clear that he believes that the Aboriginals should be recognised in the Australian Constitution.

The unique aspect of living in the tropics was something of great importance to Mr. Entsh.

He greatly expressed the importance of the environment, the projected population growth for this region and how that will affect the community.

Overall Mr. Entsh’s presence at Mossman State High School was greatly appreciated by the senior students.

He presented himself as a man with a passion for helping people and a passion for government.

He showed the students how grasping opportunities in life can lead them to greatness.

In addition, he taught them how their voices can be heard in society.
