The much-anticipated lineup for Sunset in the Park 2014 has been announced and includes headliners Sun Salute, Timber and Wood and Dave Cooke. 

Timber and Wood, playing a mixture of reggae, folk, blues and roots, have exploded onto the scene since they started up in Port Douglas in 2013. 

With their first CD out and a mammoth tour of the Australian east coast wrapped up Timber and Wood are keen to get back on the stage in their hometown. 

Founding member Marty Brown said he and his bandmates were looking forward to returning to the Sunset in the Park stage after playing last year. 

"It's a fun event, we really enjoyed ourselves last year and this time we're playing a bit later in the afternoon so we're looking forward to that," Marty said. 

"It's a very differnent venue here and we're just trying to make it a bit of fun. 

"The more fun, the better."

Sun Salute, a reggae band with jazz, soul and hip-hop influences originally from Airlie Beach, said they were ‘excited to play under palm trees’ for Sunset in the Park and urged everyone to come out and enjoy the local music on offer.

Kuranda music legend Dave Cooke will also get the crowd grooving with his unique combination of acoustic guitar, lap slide guitar, vocals, didgeridoo and stomp box. 

Sunset in the Park will be held at the iconic Rex Smeal Park, Port Douglas on September 7. 

Port Douglas Community Kindergarten has joined forces with Sunset in the Park this year to hold their Father’s Day Picnic in Rex Smeal Park, starting at 10:00am. 

Families will be able to treat Dad to a wonderful picnic in one of the most beautiful locations in Queensland before quality local music begins at 1:00pm. 

Sunset in the Park organiser Sam Cullen said the event would truly be one to remember. 

“We’ve got, I believe, some of the best local talent around playing in one of the best locations,” Mr Cullen said.

“These performers have been extremely generous in donating their time and performance to make Sunset in the Park not only a reality but also an unforgettable experience for the whole family.”
