For the past four months the Port Douglas Artists group has displayed high quality artwork in windows of empty shops in the Reef Marina complex.
This partnership has brought benefits to the Marina as the artists provided an interesting and lively, local display for their visitors. The atmosphere has been enhanced for existing retailers with the positive ‘vibe’ that comes with such a visual feast and the opportunity to meet with artists on a weekly basis.
The artists themselves, all experienced professionals, have enjoyed the interaction with the public, retailers and management and welcomed the opportunity to promote and sell their work.
Now the current project is coming to an end as the Marina management concentrates on its refurbishment and leasing programme during the, normally, quieter period of the year.
Port Douglas Artists, a group of artists, who are featured in the Art in Tropical Australia website, plans to organise at least one new project every year in the Douglas region.
Anyone looking to partner with the artists for displays in 2015 should contact Jill Booth on 0439 886 480.
