Saturday saw four keen Target shooters turn out for what as a perfect day at the range with a slight breeze and a moderate mirage to test the marksmen.

Norbert Schmidt scored 113-2 from a possible 126 in the F class comp and then trailing at a distance was Mark Goulston, a newcomer to the sport, on 85-1.

Captain Neil Attwood took honors in the Full Bore comp with a score of 96-2 followed by Rick Mischlewski on 93-3

Norbert Schmidt was as usual the first marksman to set up his gear and settle himself behind his trusty 308. Norbert opened with low scores and then went on to squeeze off ten fine shots, dropping only three points to gain a first range score of 57-2.

Mark Goulston was next to take up his position behind his 243 browning in the F class comp. Mark opened with with low scores and went on to post lots of low points to gain 41-1 from a possible 60.

Rick Mischlewski was the first marksman to close his bolt on his Full Bore 308 rifle. Rick was having trouble with his sights and shot a pretty average score of 40  with only 3 bull eyes.

Neil Attwood was next on the mound, Neil opened with low points and then got his eye in and scored  a first range tally of 45-1from a possible 50.

Norbert was back again and squeezed off 11 quick shots to post a second range score of 56 from a possible 66. Norbert's rifle barrel is extremely worn out and needs replacing hence the bad scores.

Mark Goulston was again on the mound to try and better his first score. Mark opened with low scores and then shot a few Bulls eyes and more lows to post a second range score of 44 from a possible 66.

Rick Mischlewski was again behind his 308. Rick opened with a bull eye and a V bull and went on to squeeze off a fairly credible score of 53-3 from a possible 55.

Neil Attwood was down again behind his 308 Full bore rifle. Neil opened with a super V bull and a 4, cutting them , he then went on to replicate those first shots and then squeeze off a stack of of 4's and bull eyes to post a second range score of 51-1.

A good afternoon shoot was had by all. A big thanks to Jed Kemp for marking. The Club meets every Saturday at 1:00 pm. The range is situated half way between Port Douglas and Mossman on the Cook Highway. All interested persons are welcome to come along and try this great sport. We can supply a club rifle and tutoring if needed. Call Ron Schild on 40988244 to arrange.
