Local press and events make QLD Media Awards Finals
9th October 2014, Thursday
The finalists list for the 2014 Queensland Media Awards were released yesterday and the Douglas Shire is well represented in four of the statewide categories.
The Newsport.com.au is nominated in the Best online editorial feature for its, 'Cyclone ITA approaches FNQ Coast,' article.
The Port Douglas and Mossman Gazette is nominated in the Best Non-Daily story category with Angelique Patterson's, 'Baby born in hospital dash,' article.
Tourism Websites Australia with their tourismportdouglas.com.au have been nominated in the Best Tourism online marketing campaign and find themselves
in the same category up against Daintree Discovery Centre with their campaign entitled, 'Discover the Daintree.'
And the Port Douglas Carnivale 2014 has been nominated in the, 'Best Advertising campaign across all media,' by Strategic PR.
These awards are presented in recognition of the crème de la crème of regional Queensland media professionals. The Media Awards ceremony has become one of the most prestigious annual events. A highlight of the year for those in the media industry.
Newsport Managing Editor, Roy Weavers, said, "We're very excited about being a finalist in these prestigious awards. It's a great recognition for how much hard work our staff have put in over the year and especially well done to the team who produced such great Cyclone ITA coverage."
Gazette Editor Shane Nichols said, "We're very proud that Angelique did such a sterling job on what is an important issue on expectant mothers. It highlighted the risks they go through to deliver their babies due to the lack of a local berthing centre."
The Awards will be presented at the Gala evening held on Saturday November 8th, 2014 at Pullman Reef Hotel Casino.
We wish all our finalists the very best of luck.
