Jabiru Community Close

Jabiru Close in Port Gardens got together and held a full street garage sale on Saturday morning (Oct 4th). A huge crowd of residents funnellled their way through the cul de sac of stalls to ensure they didn't miss a bargain amidst the mass of amazing stuff on display.
The Jabiru Close residents or 'Jabiru Jokers' as they like to be known turned on, in their usual style, more a party than a market proving yet again that good old fashion community spirit is very much alive and well, at least in this street.
One visitor remarked that ,"Having so much stuff available in one place really offered variety. It makes the trip worth while rather than having to trek all around the shire to all the other sales on the off chance of bargain."
This is not the first time the Jabiru Jokers have led the way with showing the community how to work together. Back in May they won a special judges award for their, 'whole street,' float entry in the Carnivale Macrossan Street Parade.
They have their own facebook which advises everyone about their regular communal parties, pizza nights and most important their ideas meeting which apparently happen most evenings accompanied by a nice cool glass of, 'sav blanc', as each and everyone arrives back from work.
The Jabiru Jokers have proved yet again that the positivity being generated in the new Shire is real. It just needs the community to maintain the momentum to get things done.
Surely if there was an award for community spirit, the Jabiru Jokers would be odds on to win it.
Jabiru Joker spokesperson Sez Kuring said, "The garage sale was a real success. We were thrilled to see so many people."
When asked what was next for the Jabiru Jokers, she just smiled and said, "My advice would be to keep an eye on our facebook page for the next crazy stunt. Knowing this bunch they'll be something else on the horizon very soon, especially with Halloween and Christmas just around the corner."
