Port Douglas - What a Team!

Port Douglas hosted the annual surf live saving branch championships over the weekend.  Perfect weather greeted the competitors and a fun time was had by all.

Our Port team got well and truly amongst the medals with everyone pitching in and giving it their all.  One of the stand-outs among many of the highlights was the Under 14 team.  Many of these kids have competed and trained together since under 8s.  They put it all together this weekend and won every team event except the swim teams where they picked up bronze.  Well done and congratulations and it just shows what you can achieve with a great attitude, hard work and lots of fun with your mates.

The branch championship is when the teams are selected to represent North Qld at the Life Saving state titles each year.  This is based on cumulative results from all carnivals in 2014.  Port Douglas Nippers chosen to represent North Qld at the state titles this year are.  Under 11: Oliver Lukin & Sophie Knight, Reserve Kade Bickford.  Under 13: Derek Sorensen, and Under 14: Mia Devine-Cameron, Che Innes-Collins, & Mitchell Knight.
