Mossman & Districts Gymnastics Club had nine of their finest gymnasts join 6 other clubs in the district. Barron Valley, Mareeba, Weipa, Tully and South Cairns showcased over 180 male and female gymnasts for the 2 day Christmas Invitational event at Atherton on November 8-9.
Our youngsters in Level 1, First Competition for some: Niav Cotter and Lena Schmidt were up for an early start on Saturday morning. Showing great effort and enthusiasm Niav was awarded with a 6th place on bars at her very first competition. Lena was very proud of her performance on all apparatus and was rewarded with a 5th place on vault, 6th place on bars, 4th place on beam and 6th place on floor finishing 5th overall out of 15 competitors.
From WAG Level 2: Jaymi Burcombe did extremely well coming 12th overall in a field of 49 competitors. Rosa Johnson placed 9th on Vault & 6th on Beam, coming 15th Overall. Charlotte Henderson placed 19th overall, Bella Mussett ‘s first competition with MDGC showed her talents on the Floor placing 8th in the field scoring 23rd overall.
From WAG Level 3: Tali Hoye scored an amazing 3rd overall in a field of 17 gymnasts coming 3rd on Vault, 4th on Bars, 3rd on Beam & 5th on Floor. Della Miller scored a personal Best in the Beam and Floor placing 1st on both apparatuses, coming 6th Overall. Kahli Frizelle did well on Vault placing 12th.
From WAG Level 4: With a save performance on floor and despite leaving room for improvement on vault and bars Shayla Frizelle certainly didn't disappoint on her favourite apparatus the only 10cm wide balance beam. Showing grace and professionalism Shayla was rewarded with a score of 13.45 scoring 5th on beam out of 15 competitors in the Level 4 over competition.
Mossman & Districts Gymnastics Club will be holding their End of Year Presentation night on FRI 28th Nov at 6.00pm. Come & enjoy the entertaining and technical spectacular displays from our local gymnasts, who are keen to show their family & friends the skills they have learnt throughout the year. A fundraising BBQ will be on sale from 5.30pm. All proceeds will benefit the club. We will also be drawing our major raffle at this event, the prize being $1000.00 CASH. Make sure you buy your tickets at the door if you haven’t already had the opportunity to do so. All proceeds from the raffle will be put aside for our proposed new gymnastics facility in Mossman.
