Girls and Ladies Rugby League Summer Competition Kicks Off
14 November 2014, 1pm
Rugby League officials were encouraged by the response to a 5 week Female Rugby League Summer Competition with 60 girls and ladies attending the first session at Jones Park in Cairns on Wednesday night.
The concept is a result of interest expressed from female players participating in school competitions and looking for a regular opportunity to play Rugby League.
The 5 week program is headed up by NRL Development Officers, Robbie Moore and Alby Anderson, with support from the QRL and local club staff.
Australian Jillaroos, Heather Ballinger and Jenni Sue Hoepper, were on hand to lend support and inspire players aiming to play at the highest level, with well- defined pathways for female Rugby League players in place.
Girls of all skills levels from 12yrs old, and women are welcome to join the skills and competition program which runs from 6.00pm each Wednesday evening at Jones Park until 10th December.
Entry price is $5.00 with children under 12 years FOC.
