Footballers bring Heat to Carnivale

Festival fun won't be on the cards for the FNQ Heat this weekend when they take on the Western Pride in Port Douglas as part of Carnivale celebrations.

But the National Premier League side will hit the pitch eager to put on a show striker Jamie Gosling said, with the Heat hoping to build up a following in the Douglas region.

"It'll be good for local football and hopefully we can put on a good spectacle for the community," Gosling said.

"It's great to be here. The lads love Port Douglas and the whole area really. It's a beautiful holiday destination and [it's] great to have a game down here."

Gosling said the Heat squad had been training well and should emerge winners on the night.

"It's a big game, a battle of the mid-table teams but on paper we should win really," he said.

The FNQ Heat will take on the Pride at Port Douglas Sports Complex on May 17 at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at the gate for $10. Entrance for children under 15 is free.
