As the Queensland and New South Wales teams prepare to face off at Suncorp Stadium for Game 1 of the 100th State of Origin Series, staff at Port Douglas’s Central Hotel are also gearing up in their team’s colours.

The hotel will be showing the game tonight on all their two massive projector screens and five TVs.

The game is shaping up to be closely fought as Queensland look to continue an eight-game winning streak.

Queensland are missing massive forward Sam Thaiday, who has been replaced with Aidan Guerra.

New South Wales are missing Greg Bird for the first game after his dangerous throw charge was overturned by the judiciary.

Had it not been, he would have missed the entire series, but should now play in Game 2 and Game 3.
