Ben Volger is the winner of The Newsport Daily's 'Win an iPad Mini' competition. 

To enter entrants simply needed to submit a creative image featuring newsport.com.au in a clever way.

Mr Volger's 'History Banks On It' image received 606 votes out of a total 1221 submitted, beating out Deb O'Donoghue's 'Noah's Beach Collage' with 448 votes.

The photo is a reworking of an old photo of early Port Douglas, digitally altered to feature NewsPort as a shop front sign.

Mr Volger said he felt lucky to have snaffled the prize.  

"It seemed like a good idea but I guess I got a bit lucky," he said.

Mr Volger said the iPad mini will make for good 'couch material'.

"While the lap top's playing movies I can sit and browse on it," he said. 

"It's always handy. I've got an iPhone but this is bigger and web friendly so I'm stoked." 

Submissions were received from around the world including exotic travel destinations such as Bora Bora and Myanmar.
