Thursday March 27 2014
Port Douglas police are appealing for the public's help solving two crimes which occurred in the region late last week.
Authorities are seeking further information regarding a Caucasian man, believed to be in his 50s, who left Cornett's IGA with items taken from the supermarket's shelves.
The man entered the store on Saturday, March 22 at around 10:20am empty handed and is seen on on security camera footage wearing thongs, shorts and a horizontally striped shirt.
The man then presented to the front counter, requesting a refund for the items he had just collected.
Sergeant Damian Meadows said the suspect then fled without paying the goods.
"After being advised by senior staff that a refund was not possible without the purchase receipt the suspect left the premises in possession of the property," he said.
