After a last minute change of venue, Muddies under 12s took on Atherton at Port Douglas Primary school on Saturday. 

The Muddies' 125 wasn’t quite enough with Atherton's chase seeing them score 146.

After a very wet week the change in venue saw not only a dreadfully slow outfield, but a few cars getting bogged on their way into the ground. 

Atherton won the toss and sent Muddies in to bat. 

The openers found it hard going early on with Vincent being run out for three before Ashton was trapped in front, LBW for three as well. 

First drop batsman Luke Twomey initially retired before returning to the crease and belting 19 off five balls.

His efforts saw him still there at the end on 27 off 23 which included four sixes, two of them off consecutive deliveries. 
Charlie Dowling did a great job finishing unbeaten on seven runs from 25 balls with one boundary. 

Scott Cooper was unlucky to be caught on three with each of his shots falling just short of the boundary. 

Josh Edward was also unbeaten with 13 runs from 17 deliveries.

Bailey Elliot is developing some real consistency and retired unbeaten yet again with 14 runs off 20 balls, belting both a four and a six. 

Lachie Dowling fell to a sharp catch which then bought Nick Raynor to the crease. 

Doing wonders for his strike rate Nick belted 14 from six balls before having his stumps knocked over. 

Ryan Stanaway showed some good form making 11 runs from 16 deliveries, hitting one of the flattest six's seen this year. 
Liam Clacherty was unlucky to sky one after getting a leading edge and fell for a duck. 

When Abel Terry was run out from a very sharp throw the Muddies innings was over with their total at 125.

With most of Atherton's scoring coming from boundaries the Muddies needed to make the most of any chances that came their way.

Vincent opened the bowling and was economical coming away with figures of none-for-five. 

He was supported well by Charlie and Nick who each took none-for-eight from their two overs. 

Ashton made the first break through in the sixth over, clean bowling Atherton’s opener and finishing with one-for-15. 

Able took one-for-22 and Bailey none-for-nine. 

Scott bowled well taking two wickets and Luke finished on none-for-15. 

Bowling honours for the day went to Josh, with one-for-five from three overs and Lachie, two-for-six from two overs. 

Ryan chimed in with one-for-18 and Liam contributed well taking one-for-six from his two overs. 

For the second consecutive week the boys put in a strong effort in the field with few chances missed and a much improved sundries figure.

The boys are looking forward to the last game of the season next week and hope to end the season on a high note.
