Mossman Police have intercepted an allegedly stolen vehicle at Wonga Beach that evaded authorities on multiple occasions over the weekend.
Arthur Lees Williams, 32, is alleged to have stolen a blue Chery hatchback during a break and enter in Townsville, before driving the vehicle north of Cairns.
Cairns police attempted to intercept the car on two occasions on Saturday afternoon but were unsuccessful.
Authorities spotted the vehicle in the Mossman region and 'shadowed' the car for more than an hour before the man pulled over near Wonga Beach and surrendered to police.
Sergeant Matt Smith said Williams had been charged with eleven offences, including two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, one count of breaching bail and five counts of stealing.
"We followed the suspect vehicle without attempting to intercept before the driver eventually pulled over and surrendered into police custody," Sgt Smith said.
Williams spent Sunday at the Cairns Watch House before appearing in Cairns Magistrates Court on Monday morning.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court again on April 28.
