Games at Douglas Netball Association over the weekend saw great play across all courts, with juniors continuing to develop their skills.
The 10/Under competition started on court 1 with the Young Comets playing Pink Lightning, the Comets scored the first goal for the game and showed some great passing over the court. Lightning soon settled, taking the game on and scored the next 3 goals to take the game 5-3.
Best players were Bayan Aston-Boyle, Mia Schieber, Saskia Booth and Lani Dickson.
The Little Saints played the Young Stars both teams were short a player for the game.
The Saints put the pressure on the Stars from the first siren and continued to play well, taking the game 2-nil.
Best players were Piper Ottone, Bridgette, Ruby Woods and Sofia Cullen.
The 12/Under game on court 1 played the Pythons against Fast Motion.
Pythons showed their experience for four quarters, however Fast Motion played well as a team, with their skills improving by the week.
The finals score left the Pythons up 15-1 with Koreena Minniecon and Ella Cairns named as best players.
The Young Sapphires played the Young Gems, with the Sapphires playing some great netball to take the game 14-1.
The Gems also showed moments of brilliance with best players going to Acacia Bowen Georgia Crimmins.
The Intermediate competition on court 1 had the SuperHeroes play Young Guns 2.
Both teams were on three goals each at the end of the first quarter but the SuperHeroes rallied the take the game 20-6.
Young Guns 2 were missing a couple of players and just couldn't keep the pressure up.
Best players were Jess Viola, Faith Kempster and Maddi Santarossa.
The 12/Under Rep team played Young Guns 1.
The Reps played well with some fast and competent plays down the court and intercepted well but had difficulty scoring against the taller opposition.
Final score was 25-4 to Guns 1 with best players Hannah Durie, Jenna Kerswell, Rae Page and Samaria Denman.
The Senior competition division 2 played Port Power against the RingIns in a very close and high pressure game.
The RingIns started strongly, shooting 12-7 in the first quarter, but the Power stepped up over the next 3 quarters and took the game 37-35 with best & fairest going to Kath Baxter. Crocs 2 played the Bluebirds on court 2 in another evenly matched contest.
The Crocs proved too strong on the night, taking the game 36-26 with best & fairest Sharna MacKay.
The Gunnars played Young Guns 1 in a tough contest, Young Guns 1 had the pace to take the game 22-14 with best & fairest named Tiah McLean.
Rattle n Hum 2 played Spot On who were down a couple of players.
Rattle, with plenty of subs, took the game 38-13 with best & fairest going to Jo Van Ewyk.
Division 1 on court 1 played Crocs 1 against Dynamite.
The Dynamite team outscored Crocs 1 in the first quarter 6-3.
Great defence by Dynamite put the pressure on the Crocs goal scorers.
With a couple of team changes the Crocs fought back to take the game 36-19 with best & fairest player going to Tayler Durie.
On court 2 Rattle n Hum 1 played the Cougars in a very close contest over 4 quarters.
The Cougars managed a timely goal in the last quarter to take the game by a single goal.
Final score 39-38 with best & fairest Dale Duff.
