Mossman & District Rifle Club Report for Saturday 28th June 2014:

Double 400 Metre Competition:

In a tough contest complicated by a variable heat mirage, the Full-bore Target Rifle Double 400m Competition was taken by Ric Mischlewski with an acceptable 98 points (out of a possible 105) and 3 centre-bulls, reflecting the difficulty of both the target dimensions and the conditions.

Mal McKellar placed 2nd with a disappointing 95/8 after a ‘bird’ and a string of ‘inners’ on the second match; and Norbert Schmidt took the F-Class Standard Target Rifle competition, again finishing strongly, but with just 114 points (out of 126) and 3 super-centre bullseyes.

Visiting French couple Liam Maurel and Letitia le Flanchec tried their hand at Norbert Schmidt’s telescoped .308cal target rifle and acquitted themselves well, with Liam pulling a respectable 29/1 (out of a possible 36) and Letitia a 9/0 from 12.
