U12 Muddies claim convincing win over Mareeba

DAMIAN DARLINGTON

The Muddies under 12s kick started the new year with a convincing win over the hapless Mareeba in Mareeba.

Scotty Cooper won the toss and sent the home team in to bat with immediate success, with Vinny Killeen (1/5) took a wicket with the first ball of the game. The batsman again found the pace of Twoomey impossible to score from, before Clacherty cashed in with the figures of 3/3 off 2.

Davenport (1/9) removed Mareeba's best bat when Charle Dowling took a great catch. Having the home team on the ropes, the junior Muddies weren't about to let up taking the next 5 wickets for only 12 runs, off the back of some superb bowling.

Conner White (1/9) started the demolition followed by Josh Edwards unplayable leg spin returning 2/1 off 2 overs. Bails Elliot finished off the last 2 wickets in only four balls, leaving Mareeba all out for 77.

Muddies openers Stanaway (11) and Rayner (12) started cautiously before hitting out late in their innings. Edward and Lachie Dowity both denied the opposition their wicket and retired on 9 and 1 respectively. Looking for fast runs, Able Terry found the boundary along with the big hitting Clacherty. Continuing the boundary hitting, Elliot and Cooper pushed the muddies score to 9/125 from their allotted overs.
