The Mount Molloy-Mossman road at Bushy Creek, Julatten, is now open.
The RACQ is advising motorists to exercise caution in the area, as the road is subject to flash flooding.
Lucky escape from flood water
Monday, February 10, 1.10pm
A Mareeba man travelling on the Mt Molloy-Mossman Road at Julatten on Saturday morning had a lucky escape after driving into a flooded culvert in his 4WD, which was towing a boat and trailer.
He become concerned at the water depth and attempted to reverse out of the situation, but the boat and trailer he was towing was pushed sideways with the current. When the 4WD washed off the crossing, the man was able to get out of the car and into his boat, though he wasn't able to get it started.
The boat was stranded against a fence until a local resident was able to help him to safety.
Following the incident, police are pleading with motorists to exercise common sense when encountering flooded roadways.

Due to flood waters, the Mount Molloy-Mossman Road at Bushy Creek, Julatten, is restricted to high clearance vehicles only.
RACQ advises motorists: Do not drive in flood waters.

Motorists around Mount Molloy should take extra care today, with localised flooding around the area and the Rex Highway at the Bushy Creek causeway, Julatten closed due to flooding.
Police remind motorists not to attempt to cross flooded roads or causeways. Do not risk your life, the lives of those in your vehicle and the lives of rescuers. Nothing is so important that you need to enter floodwaters.
Motorists are advised to carefully plan their travel, to regularly monitor the Traffic and Travel information site (details below) and allow additional travel time, incorporating travelling at lower speeds, delays and diversions.

Flood warning for Daintree River

Minor flood levels on the Daintree River have peaked, according to the Bureau of Meteorology this morning, and are expected to be below the minor flood level at Daintree Village.
However, more heavy rains today may lead to renewed river rises. The situation will be closely monitored and a flood warning issued if required.
Remember: If it's flooded, forget it.

Strong wind warning

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a strong wind warning for tomorrow, February 8, for the South East Gulf of Carpentaria, Cairns Coast, Townsville Coast, Mackay Coast and Capricornia Coast.

Water is still over the Mossman Mount Molloy Road, Julatten, in both directions, with 100mm at Bushy Creek recorded at 1pm.

At 6am this morning, 300mm of water was over the Mossman-Mount Molloy road in both directions around Bushy Creek, Julatten.

Flood warnings current for Douglas rivers

A Severe Weather warning for heavy rainfall has been cancelled for the North Tropical Coast between Cooktown and Mossman, according to information from the Bureau of Meteorology released this morning.
Very heavy rainfall associated with the monsoon trough has started to ease across the Far North Tropical Coast catchments in the Mossman and Daintree areas during Tuesday morning. The heaviest rainfall totals recorded since 9am Monday include Bairds 187mm and China Camp 203mm.
Minor flood levels are rising in the Daintree catchment, with further small rises and moderate flooding expected.
Flood warnings are current for the Daintree and Mossman River catchments.
Remember: If it's flooded, forget it.
