Back-to-back tourism award wins for Quicksilver
Port Douglas' Quicksilver Group was among 11 tour operators across the state recognised at the 2013 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, recognising outstanding contribution to the industry.
The Awards program recognises the industry’s best, and reflects the dedication, passion and commitment that tourism operators have embodied.
Quicksilver’s Silver Award in the Major Tour and Transport Operator category made it back-to-back Silver category wins for the local favourite.
“Receiving a Silver award at the Australian Tourism Awards is fantastic recognition for all our staff and crew that work so hard to make sure we provide the best experiences across our range of Great Barrier Reef touring options every day for our visitors,” said Quicksilver Group Managing Director, Tony Baker.
“We are extremely proud to be acknowledged for contribution to tourism marketing, continued commitment to quality customer service, and environmentally sustainable practices. “
It was a well-earned celebration for the state’s tourism businesses, many of which had travelled a “tough road…in the past few years following a series of natural weather disasters and economic challenges,” said Queensland Tourism Industry Council CEO, Daniel Gschwind.
Overall, Queensland took home four Gold, four Silver and three Bronze Awards. Cape Tribulation-based Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours received a Bronze Award in the Adventure Tourism category.
