Mossman to lose TV signal

Friday December 5 2014, 2:00pm

About 40 per cent of households in the Mossman area will lose television signal next week as crews replace equipment at the town’s signal tower.

From 9am Monday morning to 4pm Wednesday, TV signal will be lost to any households that use the Mossman blackspot antenna, particularly those in Mossman Gorge and Shannonvale.

All affected TV sets will need to be re-tuned after signal is restored on Wednesday afternoon.

The Mossman blackspot tower is getting a a new broadcast antenna, co-axial signal feeder, lightning protection and earthing equipment.

The tower’s transmitter will also need to be reprogrammed and re-tuned under the digital signal ‘re-stack’ program.

The ‘re-stack’ is a national-level rearrangement of digital broadcast signals to free up more space on the electromagnetic spectrum.

Council advises that the no users will need to replace or add additional equipment to their TVs but will have to re-tune them to get their signal back.
