Douglas Shire Council has well and truly entered the digital age with the launch of its own YouTube channel.

The first eight videos added to Council’s YouTube channel illustrate the activities of Council staff and are included in the “Go Douglas! Celebrating 2014” e-book which showcases the achievements of the new Council in its first year.

CEO Linda Cardew said the introduction of a dedicated YouTube channel further strengthened Council’s resolve to be “concise, contemporary and compliant”.

“The videos made by Council teams are an informative and fun introduction to the work Council does behind the scenes,” Ms Cardew said.

“In some instances it is more practical to demonstrate the work Council is doing via a short video clip rather than a long written report.

“It is also a great opportunity for the community to see for themselves the diverse activities Council is responsible for, who is involved and how we go about our business.”

Mayor Julia Leu urged the community to have a look at the Go Douglas! Celebrating 2014 e-book and click on the links to the YouTube clips.

“It gives you a great understanding of what Council does for the community on many different levels,” Mayor Leu said.

“I’m personally very proud to be Mayor of a Council that is filled with people who have so much pride in what they do and embrace technology to achieve the best outcome,” Mayor Leu said.
