B-Grade Muddies pipped by Innisfail

Muddies Under 14s pipped by Innisfail

Wednesday December 3 2014, 12:30pm

The Astute Financial Muddies Under 14s side has come off second second best against Innisfail over the weekend, losing 162 to 96.

With the Muddies winning the toss, Captain Nathan Deuble sent Innisfail Monsoon in to bat.

But not before both teams, donning black arm bands, paid tribute to fallen comrade Phillip Hughes.

A minute’s silence was spent pondering the events of the past week by players, coaches, parents and siblings.

Connor White opened the bowling for the Muddies and was rewarded well for his efforts taking 2 for 19 from his four overs.

Steaming in from the opposite end, Tex McDowall produced two tight overs to finish with figures of 0 for 8.

Innisfail then buckled down keeping the Muddies wicketless for the next sixteen overs before Vincent Killeen made the break-through finishing with 4 for 19 from four overs.

Pace duo Fraser Allen & Nathan Deuble had Innisfail on the back foot finishing with 0 for 24 and 2 for 22 respectively.

Josh Edward and Liam Clacherty were both economical each producing figures of 0 for 7 from two overs.

They were well supported by Daniel Davidson and Nicholas Rayner who both finished with figures of 0 for 6 from their two overs.

Debutant Bronson Ryan gave us a glimpse of the good form to come taking 0 for 11 from his spell.

Curtis White, 0 for 14, and Reuben Allison 0 for 13 rounded out the Muddies bowling efforts.

Sundries were again an issue but fielding in general was good with Josh taking a catch, Fraser effecting a run-out, and Daniel effecting a run-out and three stumpings.

Muddies openers got off to a good start with both Nathan and Nick falling for 14 runs.

First drop batsmen Tex ‘the stayer’ made 7 from his 25 balls faced.  Bronson (2) was the first of the Innisfail Captain’s three victims, closely followed by Josh on 4.

Daniel was dismissed for the first time this season for 15 from 20. Connor fell to a sharp caught and bowled chance and did not trouble the scorers. Vincent started steadily before skying one to mid-on to fall for 10 from 16 balls faced.

Liam was caught just short of his ground to be run-out for 6 and Fraser fell for 2.

When Curtis became the Innisfail captains 3rd victim Reuben was left the not-out batsmen on 4 runs.

After the loss the Muddies have some work to do before this week’s round of T20 matches to be played at Morrow Park which will then lead into the Christmas break.
